The naked truth

When I was fifteen, I went on a school exchange to Villa Park near Los Angeles in the USA. One day, I remember chatting, unceremoniously as one does, about going to the sauna in Germany – my parents had one at home that we used regularly. The expression of total shock and horror on the American students’ faces when I told them that we go there in the nude! Then uncontrollable giggling. They asked me a million questions about it. Die ewige Einkaufsliste

Wer schon einmal längere Zeit im Ausland war, wird das kennen: Man vermisst ganz einfache Produkte wie Laugenbretzeln oder Milka-Schokolade. Hat man dann jedoch das dortige Sortiment erkundet und seine Lieblinge gefunden, wird es einem nach der Rückreise ebenso gehen. Für mich sind das zum Beispiel die amerikanischen chocolate chip cookies von Mrs. Fields (alle hier verfügbaren Kekse dieser Art sind mir zu hart). Wenn unsere Familie nach England fährt, steht deshalb ein Besuch bei Waitrose, Sainsbury’s oder Marks & Spencer (ja, dort gibt es auch Lebensmittel) immer auf dem Programm. The plait scale

There are several reasons for this week’s revelation. One, it’s an act of reprisal: my husband hijacked my Facebook page the other day, so I’m hijacking his idea. Two, I’m on a rescue mission.
